ENTERTAINS AT BRIDGE LUNCHEON
: On Saturday, Jury 2, Mrs. Minnie C. Norris entertained
local and out of town guests with fridge Luncheon at 1 p jn.
at her home. . . .
Lunch was served and six rounds of bridge were played.
Winners Were as follows: 1 striate, Mrs. Pauline Johnson;
2nd place, Mrs. Betty Brown of Chicago? 3rd place; Mrs. Helen
Edwards; 4th place, Mrs. Doris Haynes; 5th place, Mrs. Connie

10th place. Dr. Sonja Stone; and j 1th place, Mrs. Belle Harden.
Gifts were selected on the basis of high scores.
PASTOR'S AID CLUB MEETS
The Pastor's Aid Club of Mount Zion Baptist Church met
Tuesday, June 28 at the beautiful home of Mr. and Mrs.
Marthetta Stevens on Wyeth Avenue.
Mrs. Rosa Daniels, vice president, presided at the meeting.
Following the business session, the group was served a delicious
dinner.
Visitors at the meeting were: Deacon and Mrs. W. B. Gleen,
Mrs. Cora Wendell and Mrs. Caroline Privet te.
The next meeting Vill be held at the Mount Zion Baptist,
Church with Mr. and Mrs. Shaddy Marshall serving as host and
hostess. '
4-H ACTIVITY DAY BRINGS DURHAM WINNERS
Some 866- 4-H members, parents and leaders from 16
counties gathered in Smithfield, Thursday, June 30, for the
North Carolina Central District 4-H Activity Day.
District winners were selected in more than 30 activities'
ranging from archery, cooking and sewing to crop production,
public, speaking, talent,' and soil, water and wildlife conserva-1
lion. ,'. ' ' . '" ''
, ' Winners selected in Smithfield will compete i for state
honors during North Carolina 4-H Congress July 25-29 at N. C
" C. State University, 7 ' .

monies, day long activities,
parades, firework displays,
horseshows, tournaments,
and cook-outs all over towri.
