POLITICAL CAUCUS The Durham Chapter of the North Carolina Black Women's Political Caucus will hold its regular monthly meeting on January 13, in the Stuuent Union at N.C.C.U. Room 144-A at 10:30 a.m. MRS. RUFFIN PROMOTED - Mrs. Patricia Rufftn of 527 Tuggie St. received a promotion at Duke University Medical Center last week to assistant head nurse. Mrs. Ruffin completed the Licensed Practical Nursing Course in 1973 and is an honor graduate of the 1977 Watts Hospital School of Nursing. There shereceived the Bealah Owens award for outstandingservice. She has been employed at Duke since 1957. v Mrs. Ruffin is the mother of three is married to Master-Sargeant Fred K. Ruffin (Air Force). HHS CLASS OF 1932 The Hillside High School Class of 1932 will have its monthly meeting January 3, at the home of Mrs. Annie Dixon Green, 2402 FayeltteVleSt., at 5 p.m. The party has been cancelled so it will just be the meeting. HOLIDAY BRUNCH The La Petite Gardeners held their annual holiday and Christmas party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Kearney on Alton Street. The home was decorated in a lovely holi day decor and a holiday dinner was served. Games were played and gifts were exchanged. Everyone appeared to be in a festive mood. , Plans were made for the club to sponsor a New Year's party for the ladies and gentlemen at the Winstead Rest Home. Members present- at the party were Mesdames E. M. Curry, M. Goode, L. Smith, W.B. Saunders, M.L. Egerton, and Ms . Vivian Timlic. The January meeting will be held at the home of Gar dener E. M. Curry on Sommons Street. BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS-CHRISTMAS PARTY . The Better Homes and Gardens Club held their annual Christams Party at the Hilton Motor Inn with Gardener Helen Brown serving as hostess. Past presidents and present officers were presented by Gardeners Louise Jenkins and Frances Watson. Guests attending the occasion were introduced and welcomed by Mrs. Carrie Vereen. the History of the club was read by Mrs. Thomasenia Shaw'. A lovely gift to Club President Ella Brown was presented by Mrs. Beulah Hill; President Brown presented Mrs. Hill with a gift for her continuous, untiring service, and also presented a gift to Mrs. Helen Brown for her permeating spirit of love, sharing and inspiration. v Among the guests attending the affair were: the- Rev. and Mrs. Percy High and daughter, Emily, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Tilley, Miss Alberta Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Ray V.
