NURSES BREAKFAST CLUB
The Nurses Breakfast Club held its monthly meeting
March 21 at the Chicken Hut on Fayetteyille Street.
Plans were discussed to sponsor a bus tirp to the Outer
Banks to see the "Lost Colony". Members voted to present
a cash donation to Mrs. Marion Gordon, whose house was
destroyed by fire in February.
Members present were: Mmes. Eldonia Bass, Juanita
Bell, Annie Black, Roxanna Daye, Maedell Gattis, Althea
Ingraham, Arleane Murry, Phyllis Nuchurch, Lucretia
McCoy, Gladys Richardson, Eliza Riley, Onnie Rogers,
Catherine Scott, Sadie Thompson, and the hostesses,
Dorothy McNeil, Doris Self and Mable Thompson.

ARTS AND CRAFTS COMMITTEE PRESENTS
EGYPTIAN TEA
The Arts and Crafts Committee of Zafa Court 41,
Daughters of Isis, presented its fifth annual Egyptian Tea
on Sunday, March 18 at -the Student Union Building,
North Carolina Central University. Dt. Adeline Spaulding
was mistress of ceremonies.
The Mass Choir of Mount Vernon Baptist Church pre
sented an inspiring program of hymns' and spirituals. Solo
ists were Mrs. Violet Rogers, Mrs. Edna Thompson and
Eddie Williams. Mrs. Ruth McCollum and Jesse McCrite
were organists.
Members of the Daughters of Isis modeled Egyptian
costumes. Judges were Daughters Marie Moffitt, Mary
Virginia Moore and Louise Weeks. The winner for most
original costume was Dt. Doris Allison, Past Illustrious
Commandress of Medinah Court, New York City. Honora
ble mentions were Daughters Pearl George and Mary
H. Pamplin, Imperial Treasurer of the Imperial Court,
Daughters of Isis. Both Dt. George and Dt. Pamplin are
members of Zafa Court.
Refreshments were served following the program .
Dt. Rosalee Sharpe is Illustrious Commandress of Zafa
Court and Dt. Margaret Minor, Chairman of the Arts and
Crafts Committee. Other members of the committee are:
Daughters Ruth Fulton, Adeline Spaulding, Mary Pamplin,
Ruby Bagley, Lissie Crews, Gladys Dawkins, Minerva

BOARD APPOINTMENT
Mrs. Ethel S. Bounsell of Durham, Mid-Eastern Regional
Director Eta Phi Beta Soririty, Inc., was recently appointed
to the Board of Directors of Shelley School Child Develop
ment Center in Raleigh. Mrs. Bounsell has been an active
member of Alpha Theta Chapter of Eta Phi Beta since
1970, having served as its charter president. She has also
served in other capacities and is serving the last year of her
four-year term as Regional Director covering the states of
North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia
and Tennessee. This appointment was made at the National
Executive Board Meeting of Eta Phi Beta Sorority held in
Cleveland Ohio, March 17-19. Serving as the National Presi
dent is Mrs. Gloria Chapmon of Oakwood, Ohio.
Shelley School Child Development Cetner was started by
the chapter Alpha Epsilon of Raleigh, and serves retarded
youngsters which is one of the major projects of the so
rority. APPRECIATION SERVICE TO BE HELD SUNDAY
The Orange Grove Baptist Church will have an apprecia
tion service for their pastor, Rev. McCoy Bullock, on Sun
day, April 1 at 6 p.m. The Rev. Grant J. Price and his
Gospel Choir of the Mount Olive AME Zion Church will be
in charge of the service. Everyone is welcome.
UMPIRE CLINICS SCHEDULED
The Durham Recreation Department will be holding
solftbaUbasebaU umpire clinics on Tuesday and Thursday
nights from April 3-April 19. Anyone interested in officiat
ing softball and baseball should contact Gene Tomiinson or
Angela Brooks at 683-4355 before April 2.

Carolina Friends School on Couch Road in Orange
County, is sponsoring a Craft Fair Saturday, March 31 from
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, April 1 from 1 to 6 p.m.
Sixty-five professional craftspeople will be on hand
along with Cafe, Bake Sale and Children's Carnival and live
entertainment.
