HIGHLIGHTS OF PARENTING CONFAB I
The Parenting concept,
as viewed by the PTA, is
any and all functions and
activities having to do with
the conception, birth, care
and protection, education,
andor rearing of a child.
A conference, Parenting
I, "Motivation: Responsi
bility and Commitment",
was held on Dec. 6 at
Holloway Street School in
Durham. It was sponsored
by the Durham City Coun
cil of the Parent-Teacher
Association.
Jack Jewel, manager of
Management Development,
IBM, Research Triangle
Park, was the speaker. He
told the audience that once
we accept the responsibility
for all of our environment,
then we are able to move
forward. Without commit
ting ourselves to being re
sponsible human beings, we
easily become stagnant,
with no hopes of achieving
progress or solving our
problems.
The discussion that
followed the presentation
indicated that the audience
gained a great deal from the
speaker's message.
