for the wedding of Miss
Pamela Gale Thompson
to Michael Lloyd Smith
on Saturday afternoon,
August 30. Rev. J.W.
Smith, Jr., and Rev.
George F. Neal officiated.
The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth Thompson, 1113
Akron Avenue, Durham.
The bridegroom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Smith of Atlanta,
Georgia.
Mrs. Ruth Bailey was
the organist. Ms. Yolanda
M. Hedgepeth and Ms.
Gretchen Reddrick were
soloists.
The bride, given in mar
riage by her father, wore a
floor length formal gown
of silk organza over taf
feta and a lace Juliet cap
with finger-tip mantilla
veil bordered in matching
lace. She carried a colonial
cascade of lavender and
white pom poms, carna
tions, baby's breath,
staice scented with a
lavendar orchid corsage.
Ms. Yvette Holmes of
Lexington, N.C., was
maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Ms.
Judie Dobbin of Raleigh
and Ms. Linda Gyant of
Durham.
Peter Hurst of
Houston, Texas, was best
man. Ushers were Henry
Moss and Aaron Thomp
son, brother of the bride,
both of Durham.
Children in the wedding
were Little Miss Sheryl
Bailey and Master Dathan
Pattishall.
A reception was held in
the basement of the
church following the wed
ding. The bride is a 1978
graduate of the University
of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill. She was
employed as a production
manager at Radio Station
WDUR.
The bridegroom is a
1977 graduate of Duke
University and a 1980
graduate of North
Carolina Central Universi
ty School of Law. He is a
member of Alpha Phi
Alpha Fraternity. He was
chosen as one of the Most
Outstanding Young Men
in America this year by the
U.S. Jaycees. He is
employed with the Fulton
County (Georgia)
Superior Court as a law
clerk intern.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith will
make their home in
Decatur, Georgia.

REUNION HELD IN CHARLOTTE
the Huntley, Chambers and Dunlap Family Reunion
was held in Charlotte, August 23, at the Greenville
Memorial AME Zion Church.
Approximately 350 members of the family gathered
for the 25th year of fellowship. Program participants
were Mrs. Venci Durham, president; McKinley
Chambers, Rev. Ms. Eassie Huntley, Mrs. Clara Martin
and Eugene Covington who gave the major address.
Presentations were made to the family who traveled
the longest distance, the oldest and youngest members.
A fabulous dinner was served by the Charlotte hostess.
Plans are that the 1981 reunion will convene in
Baltimore, Maryland on the fourth Saturday in July.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Huntley of Masury, Ohio are
staying over with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hubbard at 421
East End Avenue in Durham. They are visiting several
places of interest in the Triangle Area.
BARRISTERS' WIVES SCHEDULE FALL
MEETING
The Durham Chapter of the National Barristers'
Wives, Inc., has scheduled its first fall meeting for
Saturday, September 13, at 4 p.m., in the new NCCU
Law School Building, located at South Alston Avenue
and Cecil Street.
An informative meeting has been planned which will
also include a tour of the new facility.
All local Barristers' Wives are cordially invited to at
tend and become a part of this national organization
which will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary in 1981.
MISS ROSS RETURNS HOME
Miss Michelle Ross of Queens Village, Long Island,
New York, has returned home from a summer visit with
her grandmother, Mrs. Mable Allen, and aunts, Mrs.
Thelma Hill, Mrs. Marion Alston and Mr, and Mrs.
Raymond and Grace Williams.
DURHAM CIVIC CHORAL SOCIETY will
audition prospective members on Friday and Satur
day, September 5 and 6, in Durham and Chapel
Hill. In its 1980-81 season, the Choral Society will
perform two concerts: Handel's Messiah performed
in Raleigh in December with the North Carolina
Symphony whose guest conductor on that occasion
will be Robert Porco; and, a spring performance in
Durham.

County Retired School
Personnel To Meet
The initial meeting of the Durham County Retired
School Personnel will be held on Tuesday, September 9
at 3 p.m., at Henderson Towers.
A feature of the meeting will be a talk by Mrs. Manie
1. beer, a former district president, on fhe topic "The
Art of Listening."
Refreshments will be served.

Recently Miss Beverly Parker of Lansing, Michigan,
accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Odessa Parker, and
sisters Sheree Parker, Charlene P. McEachin and her
soil, Lamont, journeyed to Atlanta, Georgia where they
joined with Leroy Parker Jr., who played in the Na
tional Black Tennis Tournament. After the tournament,
they went to Orlando, Disney World, Florida Festivals'
and Sea World. Then they returned to Atlanta where
they toured Six Flags.
