Furtick of Durham.' : The affair was ' highlighted kiJy f with numerous tributes- from friends of the couple, the presentation ; of .47 American Beauty roses by -their , children, the in troduction of the Thorn ton's nine grandchildren, and-the cutting of a three tier wedding cake, ' The Thorntons reside at 1315 South Alston Avenue and are members of White Rock Baptist Church, SJte is a retired teacher of j English and music in the) Durham County Schools He is a retired teaclier of vocational education in the Durham City Schools, as well as proprietor of Thornton. Builders, Inc, The numerous tributes, by friends, attested to the respect for the Thorntons as an outstanding example of a strong, stable and supportive family unit in the midst of changing family life in our country. A tribute by one guest summarizes all others and best characterizes the B.H. Thorntons: '.'Never could either partner have contributed so much to a community without the' loyalty and supportive role of the other."
