Holy Week Services At '
St. Joseph's
Dr. Cedl Wayne Cone, will conduct Holy Week Ser
vices at St. Joseph's A.M.E. Church, 2521 Fayetteville
St., from April 13-16. Services begin nightly at 7:30
p.m. Holy Communion will be Thursday, April 16.
Dr. Cone, a noted Author and Preacher, is President
of; Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Fla., an in
stitution of high learning in its 1 12th year of existence
affiliated with the the African Methodist Episcopal
Church.
He has lectured at Howard University, Virginia
Union University, Shaw University, abroad l North and
South Zambia, Lesotho, Malawi, Johannesburg and
Capetown, South Africa, Monrovia, Liberia;
Hamilton, Bermuda; and Kingston, Jamaica. Dr.'
Cone's publications include: The Identity Crisis in'
Black Theology, 1975; Why Do The Righteous Suffer?
Preaching On Suffering and a God of Love, edited by
Young; Black Religion: The Foundation of Black
Theology; Perspectives of Black Theology: Teologia'
Nera, edited by Rosino Givellini (Editrice Queriniana,
Brescia via Piamerta 6 Italia, 1978); and Stewardship
from a Black Perspective, Journal of Stewardship, Vol.
30, 1977.
Music will be furnished by the choirs of St. Joseph's.

At UNC-Chapsl Hill "
' Soul-gospel singert, pianist, composer Dannielle Hall
will be presented in concert, Sunday, April 12 at 7:30
p.m. in Memorial Hall, UNC-Chapel HilL The concert
is sponsored by the United Christian Fellowship of,
UNC.
, Ms. Hall first came to international prominence as a
lead singer with the popular gospel group Andrae
Crouch and the Disciples; She sang pn such tunes as :
"Tell Them," "Soon and Very Soon," and the
Grammy-Award winning "Take Me Back."
As a solo artist, she has had four best-selling albums
and has played to packed houses in the United Stes and
abroad. She received Grammy Award nominations for
her album He Is King and the composition African
Noel. Her Songs "I'm Going Through," "Ordinary
People" and "Let Me Have a Dream" have become
gospel music standards.
Ms. Hall describes her special ministry of music as
"Peeling off the covers and looking at the souls of peo
ple where race, denomination and social status don't

matter.

' - Shiloh Celebrates Pastor's
Anniversary ;
Shiloh Baptist Church, Morrisville, will celebrate the
fourth anniversary of their pastor, Reverend Johnny
Leak, Sunday, Aprill2 at 6 p.m. Dr. Grady D. Davis, :
pastor, Union Baptist Church and his choir and con
gregation will be the guests.
Trial Sermon of Leonzo Lynch . I
Leonzo Daniel Lynch, son of Rev. Lorenzo A J
Lynch, pastor, White Rock Baptist Church, 3400 Fayet-i
teville St., will preach his Trial Sermon, Sunday, April
12 at S p.m.
Lynch is a freshman at University of North Carolina
Greensboro. He is president and charter member of the
MIM service fraternity and coordinator of pre-city wide
revival youth night.
He is a graduate of Durham High School, June 1980.
He was listed in Who's Who Among American High
School Students, vice president of the student body and
dram major of the marching band for two years, and a
member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club.'
Lynch is a member of White Rock Baptist Church,
and is vice president of the Pastor's youth class, and a
member of the Junior Missionary group.
Spring Tour To Orlando
The Kyles Temple Stewardess Board is planning a
Spring Tour to Orlando, Tampa, and Clearwater,
Florida, in early June. They will visit Disney World,
Busch Garden, Cypress Garden, Seaworld, and

Rev. McCoy To Speak at Mt. Gilead
Rev. Coolidge McCoy, pastor, Liberty Baptist
Church and associate pastor, Greater St. Paul Baptist
Church, will speak at Mount Gilead Baptist Church,
404 Dowd St., Sunday, April 12 at 5 p.m. The service
will mark the third anniversary of the Nurses Aide.
Dr. A. D. Moseley is pastor of Mount Gilead.
Thrift And Bake Sale
The Usher Board of Covenant United Presbyterian
Church, Corner of Lincoln St. and Linwood Ave., will
