Connectionar Lay Council Meets
The Connectional Lay Council of the African
Methodist Episcopal Zion Church meets in Birm
ingham, Alabama at the Hilton HotelAugust 10-14.
The theme of this second General Convention of the'
Lay Council is So Send I You. The AME Zion Church
is over two hundred years old an dremains one of the
most prestigious denominations in the Black communi
ty. Representing over two million members in the
United States, The Bahamas, , Trinidad-Tobago, the
Virgin Islands, Jamaica, London-Birmingham, Alaska
and Africa, the Convention promises to be Informative, .
exciting and souVstirring. Mrs; Betty V. Stith, Presi
dent, Dr. C. D. Rippy, Vice President and Chairman of
the convention, and Dr. Gossie Harold Hudson, Public
Relations, will be participants.
Dr. John Foster at White Rock
Rev. Dr. John H.. Foster, pastor, Shiloti Baptist
Church, Norfolk, Va., will preach at White Rock Bap
tist Church, 3400 Fayetteville St., Sunday, August 9 at

Dr. Foster is a native of Louisburg. He is a graduate
of Shaw University with a B. A. degree and also a
graduate of the Shaw Divinity School with a Master of
Divinity degree. He also received the Doctor of ,
Ministry Degree from Howard University School of
Religion.
He has served as Vice Chairman of the Board of
Education, Norfolk, President of the Virginia Baptist
State Convention and President of the Theological ,
Scholarship Foundation Inc. He is Vice Chairman of
Sunday School Publishing Board National Baptist Con-
vention USA Inc., and consultant to the Lilly Founda
tion for the National Congress of Black Churches.
He is married to the former Miss Salona Eggleston.
