X-
Maurice and Verdine White of the million-selling Columbia recording act Earth, Wind & Fire usually send their
spiritually uplifting messages through music, but that's not the only way. ..Committed to making lile better in many
ways, Maurice (center) and Verdine (left) recently met with newspaper, television and magazine reporters in New
York to announce their Involvement with the National Black United Fund, the largest charitable organization in the
United States run by Macks and involved in black community needs. Walter Bremond (right), the Fund's executive
director announced the appointment of Maurice and Verdine to the organization's Board of Directors, after which
they sent a message to the people and the government concerning the Reagan Administration's budget cuts, wtldi
endanger many community services for American blacks. Bremond pointed out that non-profit organizations will
lose J12. 6 billion by 1984. Through the efforts ol the Black United Fund, vital social, community and educatid
