Miss Brown is a graduate of' the University bf
North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is employed with
the First Citizens Bank in Chapel Hill. Lawrence at
tended the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill. He is currently a running back with the San
Francisco 49'ers.
The wedding is planned for May 15 at Mount
Zoar Baptist Church in Durham.

Honored By Badin Church
On February 2Ca dedication program was given
in honor of Mrs. Agnes M. Maske at the First Bap
) tist Church in Badin, N.C,
Mrs. Maske is the daughter of Bishop and Mrs.
S.G. McCoy of Durham. She is a graduate of N.C.
A&T State University in Greensboro and received
her master's degree in business administration from
UNC-Charlotte. she is a business education teacher
in Stanley County High School.
The Rev.'L.R. Crawford delivered the sermon
and music was presented by the Holy Week Youth
Choir, Mrs. Bernice Richardson and the Cagle
Family. Rev. L.T. Stephens introduced the speaker.

The Friendly Ladies Club met last month at the
home of Mrs. Gussie Ray with Mrs. Susie Dilihunt,
as co-hostess. Business was discussed, a new
member welcomed and a repast was served.

V Thrifty Service Club
La Petite Junior Garden Club held its monthly
meeting at the Forest Hills Recreation Center on
Friday, March 12.
The Garden Gate was opened by the president,
Kecia Samuel. After the business session, the
gardeners divided into groups to work on their pro
jects with a senior gardener as a consultant.
Margaret Webb and Stacia Blanchard worked
with identification of bulbs. The gardeners worked
with bulbs and pictures of daffodils, caladiiim,
Dutch Iris and tulips.
Kim Schuler and Tiffenee Jones worked with pot
. ted plants. They learned how to prepare soil for
planting. They planted German Ivy, cactus,
Swedish Ivy and other plants to take home.
Willie Bass, Anethia Witherspoon, LaShawn Bet
tis Kathy Mann, Sherry Smith and Kecia Samuel
discussed succulents and the; unique ability-df these
