The lodge purchased it's present' building with the down payment loaned by Vance. It has undergone some remodeling since that time. Brother Vance next held the post of District Deputy, Fifth District, for fifteen years. He was " elected first vice president of the North Carolina Elk State Association and served for eleven years. He is a member of the State Presidents Council, the Baxton E.R. Council, Grand Shrine, Director for ' Hobson Reynolds, Elk's National Shrine for the State of North Carolina, treasurer of Mamie Hicks j Fez Club, chaplain for the Fifth District Assembly. ; : Other affiliations are with the Laodicea United Church of Christ, formally Manly Street Church, Where Vance is a member of the Men's Bible Class. He is an ordained Deacon and has been on the Board for over forty years. He is a member of. Master Mason and served as treasurer of Mento Lodge No. 55 for twelve years.
