UNCF Pledges Total Now $8.2 Million
ST. LOUIS — Two weeks after
the airing of the 1985 “Lou
Rawls Parade of Stars” telethon,
pledges and contributions have
reached $8,250,000, according to
United Negro College Fund of
ficials at their national head
quarters in New York.
Urging everyone who made
pledges to send in their contribu
tions, Christopher F. Edley,
president and chief executive of
ficer of the United Negro College
Fund, said, “The fulfillment of
pledges made during the ‘Lou
Rawls Parade of Stars’ telethon is
vital to the future of the young
men and women who are atten-
' ding UNCF schools.”
The “Parade of Stars” was
aired coast to coast during the
weekend between Christmas and
New Year’s. The six-hour show
was broadcast from Los Angeles
and featured over 50 celebrities
from the entertainment world.

Dance Fest
...vyill be held on Sat., Feb. 22, at North Carolina Central
University. This event is open to pre-school through junior high
school age children. Emphasis will be placed on developing pro
per technique for dance to be tools for carry-over to be carried
over to various styles of dance.
The two institutions involved are: Dance Division of Physical
Education and Recreation at North Carolina Central University
and the Studio School of Dance al the W.D. Hill Recreation
Center.
