He received a blue blazer with a specially designed emblem which identifies Honors Students. Garnet blazers were presented to women. Garnet and Blue are the school colors. A reception was held prior to the presentation for the students, their families, faculty and staff. Dr. Albert E. Smith, president of the college, and Dr. Henry W. Brevard, chairman of the Board of Trustees, presented college seal pins and the blazers. Executive vice president and provost officially called the roll.
