Gardener Mary Jarmon opened and closed the garden gate. President Doris Reddrick presided. A moment of silent prayer was held for departed member Anna Duke. President Reddrick started an impromptu talk about black history. Gardeners Julia Freeland, Mary Horton, Naomi Parker, Mary McClary also provided some black historical moments. All committees made reports. Gardener Dorethea Johnson gave an'informative talk on the importance of herbs in our lives today. She said that during the last hundred years, much of the art of using herbs in cooking, as medicine or for cosmetics, has been losL especially in the, industrialized societies.
