Primary elections for the Democratic Party and the Republican Party
will be held in Durham County, State of North Carolina, on Tuesday, May
8, 1990. The polls will be open for voting on that day from 6:30 a.m. to
7:30 p.m. Those voters registered as affiliated with the Democratic and
Republican political parties will be choosing candidates of their respective
parties for Federal, State, and County offices.
The Durham County ballot will have candidates in the Democratic Party
Primary for U.S. Senate; Judge of the Court of Appeals; District Attorney,
14th Judicial District; N.C. House of Representatives, 23rd District;
Sheriff; and County Commissioner; and candidates in the Republican
Party Primary for U.S. Senate.
Only voters registered with the Durham County Board of Elections as
affiliated vyith the Democrafl@|Party may vote in the Democratic Primary;
voters registered as affiliated with the Republican Party may vote in the
Republican Primary; also, voters registered as unaftiliated with a political
party and who so request at the polling place may vote in the Republican
Primary.
Voters who are already registered to vote need not re-register to vote in
this primary election. Qualified residents who are not registered to vote
must register by Monday, April 9, 1990, to be eligible to vote in this
primary. Also a voter who wishes to change party affiliation, or who has
moved since the last election, must make the change with the Durham
County Board of Elections by the same date. A person may register or
make changes in his voting record at the Durham County Board of
Elections at 119 Orange Street between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on
Monday through Friday, or with any individual authorized to regi.cter voters
