(and Durham Alumnae Chapter) at 1000 Forest Hills Blvd. It is a 36" x 36" framed portrait of the founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Members of the Durham Alumnae Chapter who are graduates of Livingstone College are Helen Sanders, Rubestene Potter, Charlene Polk, Thomascene LeGrand, Deshera Mack, Charletta Hines, Jessie Luckey, Miriam Thomas, Lisa Thorpe, Ruth Coleman and Geralene Singletary. Deltas Present Merrick- Fisher-Spaiilding Award The Durham Alumnae Chapter of elta Sigma Theta Sorority ‘cently presented the 1993 lerrick-Fisher-Spaulding Award, highest award, to Mrs. Della M. ilbright at a luncheon held at the ,C. Mutual Life Insurance Co. fctcria. Given annually since 1975, the F-S ' Award recognizes standing service and dedication the sorority and to the jmmunity. It is named in honor of 10 of the local chapter’s founding tubers, Mrs. Mary Lee Fisher loiris and Mrs. Minnie Pearson inter Spaulding, and one of the cal honorary members, Mrs. Lyda Merrick. ioror Betty Johnson, chair of the lection committee, said, "It was propriate for Mrs. Fulbright to ' in the honor this year for rtiany asons, ...particularly her dicated work with the tutoring igram sponsored by the Durham limnae Cliapter’s Life ivelopment Center." fc Fulbright .said, "Receiving this award was the highligjit of my life. It was really thrilling to have achieved^ this honor. I never thought that I would, but I hoped to receive it one day." Prior M-S-F awardees are Sorors Charlotte Hackett, Lyda Merrick, Jeanne Lucas, Mary Hester Smith, Charlotte Sloan, Marva Thorpe, Edith M. Johnson, Betty Blackmon, Andolia Eaton, Louise Weeks, Frances Schooler, Edna Mason, Margaret Goodwin, Beatrice Allen, Ruth Thomas, Alice Little and Mudy Stone. At the same ceremony, the Durham Alumnae Chapter also presented National 50-Year Service Awards to Emma Boone King and Della Fulbright. National 25-Year Service Certificates were presented to Rubestene Potter, Thomascene LeGrand and Charlene Polk. Delta Board members Edith M. Johnson, Willie Hill, Bernadetft; Watts, Frances Mclver and Juanita Massenburg also received certificates of appreciation of their service from the chapter.
