North Carolina Central University track and field head coach
Michael Lawson has announced the signing of jumping specialist
Jaelyn Rice from Smyrna, Ga.
Rice currently attends Wheeler High School in Smyrna, Ga.
She is Wheeler High School’s high jump record holder and a
three-time all-state track and field athlete. She is also a three-time
region champion, twice for high jump and once for long jump.
“I knew I wanted to run track at an HBCU when I was eight
years old,” said Rice. “I have been running track so long, that it
has been my primary hobby.”
A team captain in each of her last two seasons, Rice is expected
to enroll at NCCU for he fall semester. She plans on majoring in
exercise sports science to become a physical therapist.

Project Description: The project includes the removal of existing
asphalt surface and refortification of existing sub-base CABC to a
uniform depth of 10 inches and new 4.75 inch asphalt surface. Bid
Alternate #1 allows for Full-Depth Reclamation (FDR) of the sub
base to a depth of 10 inches and a new 3 inch Asphalt surface. The
bus driveway project includes the rehabilitation of a 670 foot section
driveway extending from the intersection with Cook Road to the
Parking Lot “throat”.
After the award of the contract, a Pre-Construction Conference will
be held at a place and time established by the Engineer.
, Minority Participation: Bidders shall note that compliance with the
Owners M/WBE Participation Policy and the North Carolina Statue
143-128.2 (c) is applicable to this project.
No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the
receipt of bids for a period of sixty (60) days.
Bid Security required is 5% of the bid in cash, certified Check, or
Bid Bond.
Performance and Payment Bonds will be required by the Durham
Public Schools for 100% of the work prior to the Durham Public
Schools entering into a construction contract.

ball team suffered a 60-53 road loss as the Lady Cagles (9-16. 4-8 MEAC) gave
up 33 turnoxers resulting in 28 Savannah Slate Lad) Tiger (15-11. 8-4) points
on Monday, Feb. 17 in Savannah. Ga.
Redshirt senior Jessica f reeman (Charlotte) led all-scorers linishing the game
w ith 20 points on 8-for-22 shooting from the field. 2-for-10 from behind the arc
and 2-for-2 from the charily stripe while also collecting three rebounds and three
assists.
