The ban was announced pub licly at a press Conference last Thursday by Southern Athletic Director Dr. William Brous sard. The "most imminent im pact." Broussard said is on the winter sports .teams that are now competing, including the men's and women's basketball teams that currently sit atop the SWAC standings. Southern was selected by the NCAA for review of its academic data dating back to the 2009-2010 season and the school's support staff has been working w ith the NCAA since the fall of 2013 gathering that informalion.
