Durham UNCF Steering Committee Concludes Annual
Campaign with The Evening of The Stars Gala Event
The Durham United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Steering Committee conclude the annual year of
giving with the “Evening of The Stars Gala”, held on Friday, Feb. 19, at the William and Ida Friday
Center with over 150 supporters in attendance. The theme was “Celebrating Higher Education”. The
highlights of the evening were honoring Mayor William Bill Bell for his service to UNCF and community
donations made to UNCF.
The committee is pleased to
announce that over $30„000 was
raised during the campaign to
support scholarships for UNCF
students and Shaw University.
The Honorable Larry D. Hall
served at the Honorary Chair
and Glenda Davis is the chair
of the Durham UNCF Steer
ing Committee. Emcees for the
evening were Gilbert Baez of
WRAL and Volanda Calloway
of WNCN. Music was provided
by Sweet Dreams.
