steamer Atlantic, baa published in a
Halifax paper an elaborate, but i 11

commander of that ill-starred ship.
His main point of defence is that the
disaster to that vessel was caused by
the "unknown currents" of the sea,
rather than by the inefficiency of the
officers. The defence is called out
by r, recent letter from Mr. William
Koche, one of the Commissioners of
rilots for the port of Halifax, who
lias censured Captain Williams in
evere terms.
