A Musical Treat for Charlotte. For some time past it has been whisper ed among the "knowing ones" of Char lotte that the Glee Club had in course of preparation some music for public per formance. At last, through" the indiscre tion of some favored few who were admit ted to the rehearsal, our much excited cu riosity has been gratified and we have found out what is coming off. "The Parry Bridal" a cantata by Hewitt is to be ren dered ; Th.e subject wer understand is part ly taken from Shakespeare's beautiful play, "Mid-suramer-nights' dream," and repre sents the espousal of the elfin queen Teta nia to (?) Oberon,'a prince of high degree in fairy lands. The scene will show us the court of the fair Titania in all its splen dor; the queen surrounded by- all her sub ject s; standing side by side iu beauteous attire will be water sprites, and mountain fays; the fierce looking Gnome King will lock hands with the crowds of little airy beings collected by her Majesty's command; for this' all j ruportant' 'owa&pn. " ' Oberon will of course have his attendants too all of them noble, stately and handsome. Our imagination is quite upset picturing the brilliant scene that will greet us when our Charlotte beauties are thus collected and each fair is looking her prettiest. Why Twere worth ten vears of this short life One glance at their array." But we forget we are dwelling too long on what is to charm the eye while the mu sic vpt nnannken. The music! ves, for while our eyes are to be dazzled by the fair ness of the vision our ears are to-be ravish ed by the sweetest strains of melody. They say the part of Titania is to be sung by one of Charlotte's fairest daughters, who is as much admired for her manv true, noble womanly graces as for her splendid music al attainments. She is supported by a gentleman who undertakes the role of Oberon. Of the solos they respectively sing and pf their duetts suffice it that all pronounce them superb.. But we can not undertake to tell all we beard, for there are long stories about Jolly "Puck," and the terrible "Storm-Eiend,' and . "Star-Light" arid "Zephyr," and! ever so many more. However, this much we will idl, that the time appointed for the proposed concert is tiext "Wednesday, the 28th inst.4 and we would bespeak for bur talented amateurs a full house on that opcasion. In this m- stancp we;have the opportunity of eontri buting our mite to a good cause, (for it is to be a charity concert) and of enjoying a rich treat in the way of a beautiful, chaste and elegant entertainment. -So let us give ovir "Club" a hearty welcome in. tha form of a large audience to show we appreciate their efforts.
