Arms and the Toca "There was a sound of revelry by night" on Friday even ing at the Carolina Military Institute, and Charlotte had gathered uot a little of her beauty and her chivalry. Bright the lamps shone over fair young girls and brave boys. and soft eyes looked love to eyes which spaice again, and all went happy as a marriage bell, until the order was given; and'the occasion closed. To drop the language of poetry, and to come down to plain prose, we are gratified to state that the Dublin the cadets of the 0 M I was in spite of the inclement evening. decided success. The csdets gave a "Hop" as it is termed, and many of the young 'gentlemen and young ladies of this city were present. The cadeta in their beautiful grey uniform vied with the civil ians present in their courteous attentions to the ladies. The buys were gallant and the girls were pretty, and all's well that ends well. In this connection we are glad to say that the Institute continues to increase its numbers. A number of fine, well-matured young men are reporting for duty, and the cadets are busily employed. There are now about 90 cadets on the rolls of the Institute, and fifty more are expected by the opening of the second term. The corps of teachers is soon to be reinforced by the addition of two more Professors, who will be young, efficient and energetic men, alive to the demands of the' hour and In sympathy with genuine progress For the Okskhveb. If ip this liberal age there are persons to be found who are so blinded by prejudice as not to believe that a medicated stimu lant Is an item of immense importance in the catalogue of human remedies, we should like them to witness the wonderful effects which Hostetter's Stomach Bitters are now producing all over the country in cases of intermittent fever, rheumatism, billions disorders, dyspepsia, nervous com plaints, constitutional debility, mental de pression and premature decay. To be sure these effects are nothing new. The great vegetable invigorant and its cures have leen before the people for more thau twenty-five years, and in every year of the twenty-five its popularity has increased and its sale has become larger. Yet there are, no doubt, many thousands of intelli gent citizens who have never had an op l)rtuuity of observing for themselves the surprising changes which this unequalled tonic and alternative produces in systems which seem to be hooelesslv. broken, and in cases of disease which are not amenable . jit i. - Lfjii waa,fc fcjw uA j-r these regard.
