attend the Mecklenburg Centennial, free of
charge both ways. The rates from points
along the line of the road will be reduced

The Jewish Passover
The annual febtival of Passover or Resach,
which begins to-day, is celebrated by Israel
ites throughout the world, in compliance
with the Divine command. The history on
which the fest is based is too well known to
need explanation. The first few chapters of
the Book of Exodus contains its fullest, ex
position. The festival is' commemorative of
Israel's redemption from Egyptian bondage,
end is one of those nionumepts which, more
than any otner, connects the jiying present
with the hoary past a monument more
grand, more, subtile, and. more- instructive
than any marble or stone thai speaks in the
dumb language of the ages that have rolled

ters in regard to the Centennial Celebration,
which takes place in th's city on the 20th of

man in Wilmington. We' are permitted to
make the following extract from it : "
