It is doubtful if our brother journalists can get justice in a Charleston court, but then thev are only white men and it makes no difference. SHERIDAN AND DE TROBRIAND SUED FOR DAMAGES. General Sheridan and Colonel Be Trobriand, who performed those deeds of martial valor, in connection ' with the Louisiana Legislature, during the first week in January, are now defend ants in suits brought against them by the five Democratic legislators who were ousted by De Trobriand. The damages for this ejectment are laid at $100,000, and the Attorney General is getting ready to defend the' military heroes. This is all well enough, ; but all of us" surely ought to be made parties to the suit. Isn t it a pity Grant cannot be reached by law and made to disgorge some of his ill-got ten gains in expiation ol lus crimes against the down-trodden people of ouisiana. . Social Elegance The report in the Capital and Sunday Herald of last Sunday of the preference shown to the President and Cabinet over the other guests at Postmaster Jewell's reception, were true in fact.
