J- Mott. We regret to leant as we do by passen gers on the A T & 0 train ye3rerd ay, that Dr J J Motfc, Collector of Internal Reven ue for this District, is lying dangerously ill at his home in Slatesville. He went to bed well on Monday night, and yesterday merning, when the train left fetatesville, was unable to turn in his bed, having been attacked, during the night, with rheumatism of the chest. Members of the family have been summoned to his bedside.- Dr Mott bad a similar attack about five year- ago, whicn came near ending his life , We hope that the next Teport from him will be that is im proved -- The Xew Gas Company The Centennial Gas Light Company, of Charlotte, having succeeded in getting,. their street pipes all Hid, and their works in pro per order, are only waiting now for the ar rival of the metres to put the gas in houses. MeAden, and has 'been burning theic for several nights past- Thegas gives a full, steady and brilliant lightaDd.to all appearances is as gool as any other. The company has fixed the price at $4 per 1,000 feet. The price of the Charlotte Gas Com pany is $7. The latter company claims that the other gas burns out. more rapidly than their's. This, the officers of the Centennial Company claim to be a mistake, and a test is soon to be made, we understand, to determined-he matter.
