Burglary. In . Davldsjn County. The Tramps In the County. ' Lexikgtos, Ni. C, Oct. 22nd, 1875. Ebitobt Daily Obsbbveb : : Di4B 8irb : News has just been received in this town that on Wednesday night last, a daring and successful' 1)urglary was com mitted at Cotton Grove, Davidson county, .six miles from this place. The dwelling bouse of Capt J H Miller was entered by some unknown party or parties during the night, by cutting the slats from one of the window blinds and then cutting away, the window sash or pirt of it and thereby effect ing an entrance into the honee through tbe window and into the sleeping room occu pied by the Captain and his wife and took from the bed post his pantaloons and ex tracty fifty dollars' from bis pocket book. He, made good his escape, no one being aware of the theft until m r.iiug revealed the shattered window and missing money. have not heard that any one . is suspected but from the bold and successful manner in which the entrance was made, I have no doubt that it'was an expert. ' No new hand at the business could put up bo good a job. j The country round about here infilled I with thieves and tramps, whose appearance belie them very much, . if they are not the authors of a great many of these midnight robberies which are occurring all over the country. Can't you suggest some remedy ? If there is not something done in North Carolina to stop this horde of tramps, they will soon overrunour State.and I fear we shall soon hear of murders as well as robberies. I write this that you may warn the people in the country that their property is in dan ger and possibly; their lives, especially if they keep any funds about them. - NICKEL. SPECIAL NOTICES.
