Washington, March 29. Schenck is making quite a plausible document ary showing. The impression is that he will show what he claims : simply that he has been unfortunate and im provident. The Ways and Means Committee are hearing the copper interest, and will hear thil afternoon, a delegation from New, York, on the method1 of collecting the Jariff. The District Court at Baltimore has suspended operations under the force bill, and all the prisoners have been released on bail. Dispatches from New Orleans indi cate that Kellogg has abandoned the force bill, and is pushing action under the State authorities against the acts which he hoped the Federal Courts would hantile. Robeson denies having sent money to Jay Cooke, McCollough & Co., un til evidence had been given that they were safe custodians. The Tacific Railroad Committee had "an argument upon the Omaha bridge, but took no action. It is un derstood that a bill will be reported making the bridge part of the road, and forbidding extra charges. General Custer is before the Com mittee on War Expenditures, liis evidence, if possible, i3 damaging to Belknap and generally in depreciation of his policy in military affairs. WASHINGTON. A bill providing for the redemption of unused stamps, passed. The bill fixing military salaries, was taken up. It will save half million per annum. The bill passed, yeas 141, nays 61.
