' ' ' SEBRA8KA. Big Fight with the Indians Indians Dispersed Heavy Losses on Both Sides. Bismarck, Aug 24. The white scout Burke, arrived from the mouth of the Rosebud with dispatches from .Crook and Terry. After effecting a junction they left wagon, tents, Ac., and took 37 companies of cavalry and the Light Infantry ; making forced marches to overtake the Indians before reaching the Yellow Stone. Later dispatches from Standing Rock say that Indians from Bitting Bull's camp, report a terrible battle' between the Indiana and the combined forces of Crook and Terry. The Indians were repulsed and scattered . Crook aud Terry are reported to have sustained as heavy a loss as- the Indians. KANSAS. Agreement Between Democratic and Greenback Parties. Topeka, Aug. 24. The Democratic Convention made an agreement with the greenback party on the basis of the withdrawal of a part of the greenback ticket, and nominated John Martin of Topeka, for Governor; Mr. Beals, for Lieut. Governor, M C South Treasurer, Sheldon, Auditor, and Barret Superin tendent of Schools. With thfc excep tion of Martin, the above are all can didates on the greenback ticket. The balance of the ticket will be composed of Democrats. WASHINGTON. Troops to be Transferred to the South. Washington, D C, Aug. 24 The War Department directs Col Ruger unon assuming: the command of the department of the South about Sep tember 1st, to transfer headquarteis of department to Atlanta.
