Destructive Fire in Cleavelaad-Grain
Elevator and Other Buildings Burn
ed. Cleveland, Oct 9. A large eleyator
of Otis fe York was burned this morn
ing. A total loss.
Later. A fire broke out early this
morning in the grain elevator of Otis
fe York, on River street. The building
and contents were entirely destroyed.
The building was occupied by the
Michigan Central Steamboat Line, a
railroad hotel and several frame build
ings -occupied as saloons, were also
burned. The origin of the fire is un
known. The loss of Otfa & Yorklon

the building is $75,000. It is insured
for $35,000. The Michigan Central
Steamboat Line, building, $25,000, con
tents $15,000; uninsured. Loss on
other buildings and contents about
$20,00. The co-operative stove com
pany also lose about $4,000 on stoves
stored in the elevator, on which there
was no insurance. During the progress
of the fire on River street, a fire broke
out in the 2nd Presbyterian phurcti on
Superior street, between 3rd street and
public square, which was almost en
tirely destroyed. The loss is about
$70,000; insured. It is supposed the
church caught from sparks from the
elevatpr fire. -,

leDbarr, stands charged with the crime of
rapt", or attempted rape, on Mrs Mary A
Beatty.
'And Whereas, it appears that the said
unknown has fled the State, or so conceals
himself that the ordinary process of law
cannot be served upon him : -.
Now, therefore, I Unrtia H Brogden, Gov
ernor, pf the State, of North Carolina, by
virtue of authority in ine vested by law, do
issue this my proclamation, offering a re
ward of Four Hundred Dollars, for the ap
prehension and deli very of such person as
fchall be identified by Mrs Mary A Beatty,
as the partywho committed or attempted
to commit a rape on her person on the 19th
Qf August, 1876, tor the Sheriff of Mecklen
