It was decided at a meeting of the Cabinet to-day, that the extra session of Congress, rendered desirable by the failure of the last Congress to pass the army appropriation bill, is net to be called to meet in June, but for Octo ber,? This change of the original pro gramme was made upon a careful con sideration of the general interests of the country ; and also ir compliance with the almost unanimous desire of the business community, as well as of members of Congress themselves, - as far as they could be consulted, that there shall be qo session of Congress this summer, -if -it could be avoided, and upon mature inquiry, into all div cumstances of the case it was aseer- tained that without any . immediate appropriation of money, the army can be clotheLand supplied with all its necessaries, and , that until the 15th of October, only one regular pay day has to be. passed. .It .was also. - considered that, if Congress meets fin October, it may remain in continuous session, and finish its business before the next summer, so. as to avoid tthe inconveni ance of a hot sessiaa next year, as was this year. A proclamation, calling the extra session at October 15tb, is to be issued without delay. Louisiana has been consolidated into one Collection District, with John Cockran retained & Collector. . Mr Miller's letter in a. New York j our- nal, was read and commented: upon. and his views, as a clergyman, were held to be entirely at variance with the doctrines held ; in his book. Thesq views' required him to adhere strictly to the Confession 'of Faith' and the Catechism, and,-also required him to preserve the peace and purity of the church, both of Which he had violated. The Rev Dr Mott followed on the part of the prosecution, and' spoke outside the Confession of Faith and the Catechism. He held Mr Miller to be guilty on the broad field of Chris tianity. ....... . w - , I . - The Presbytery, by a uananimous vote, sustained the following specifica tions and charges : ,."' - 1st.
