It is estimat ed that the aggregate poDular sub. scriptions will not exceed two millions of dollars. Chief Justice Waite said to-night that .during his stay in the city of Charleston, he was not consr.inns nf any.incivility.on the part of the citizens ot tnat place. He feels greatly morti fied at the statements which have ap peared in the newspapers in regard to their demeanor toward him while at tending to his judicial duties in that circuit. His first knowledge of any such action on their part came to him through the President. The June report of thq Department of Agriculture indicates a better pros pect, man usual for wheat. In the report of June, 187G. the amum fnr the country was thirteen per centum below the standard of the normal con dition, and the subsequent returns of the condition and yield were still low er, forecasting the scarcity which has occurred. The loan is to be paid after forty-nine years. San Francisco, Cal., June 22. Ad vices from Walla Walla state that the Indians killed every man on the Salmon river, but spared the women and children.
