struck. A slight attack was made by
the canal boatmen, Three trains have

Grafton, July 20. -The strikers
here are a hundred strong, and en
tirely beyond the control of the
civil authorities. The telegraph wire
is net cut, but has been tampered
with. The strikers have telegraphists
with them.

are powerless to do anything beyond

railroad men from Steubenville, O.,
took the places of the strikers. They
were warned off at the peril of their

Martinsburg, July 20. There have
been numerous arrests of the ring
leaders. The train was cut off this af
ternoon at Sir John's Run, but was
afterwards coupled up and proceeded.
Two squads of soldiers have gone
there.
Pittsburg. July 20. It s believed
here that if the Pennsylvania Rail
road men hold out. the Pan Handle
and Fort Wayne men will join the
strike. The strikers say that in case
the men of these roads join them, the
men of the Michigan Southern and
Lake Shore Railroads will do likewise.
Thus a strong effort will be made to
stop all freight traffic between east and
west, and make the railroad compa
