Be !it , enacted by the Senate and House of Representa tives of the United States of Amenca in - Congress assembled i That there stiall J be ; coined . at the several mints "of the United States, I silver dol lars of the weight of 412J grains Troy, of standard silver, as provided in the act of Jannary 18, 1837, on which shall be the devices and superscriptions pro vided by said act, which coins, together with all silverdollars heretofore coined by the United States, of like weight and finish j shall be a legal tender at their nominal value for all debts and does, public and private, except where other wise expressly stipulated in the con tract : and tire Secretary of the Treas ury is authorized and directed to pur chase from time to time silver bullion at the market price - thereof, not less than $2,000,000 worth per month, nor more than $4,000,000 worth per month, and cause the same to ; be coined monthly, as fast as so purchased, into such dollars; and a sum sufficient to carry out .the foregoing provisions is hereby appropriated out ot any money in the Treasory not otherwise appro priated, and any gain or seigniories arising from this coiaae shall hi ac counted for and paid into tl e Treasury, as provided under existing lawB relative to the subsidiary coinage : provided.
