Missionaries Following Stanley's Path.
Washington, D C, May 11. Mr
Bushnell, the United States commer
cial agent at Gaboon, writes to the
Department of State that the mission
ary, enterprise , continues ; , to follow in
the path of Mr Stanley 's , discoveries.
Two missionaries, Messrs Strom' and
Craven, have recently spent a few days
at Gaboon, en route for the Congo,
now, -the Livingston river. They have
been sent out by philanthropic mer
chants of Liverpool and, London to as
cend the Bouth bank of the river to a
point above the first rapids, where
they are to establish an industrial
Christian mission. Such enterprises,
Mr Bushnell adds, will prepare the
way for the extension of commerce
and steam navigation upon the vast
interior rivers of Ethiopia, and the de
velopment of her valuable natural resources.
