JANUARY 11,1879, Oar Tenare of Lite : Depends In a great measure upon our regard for or neglect of the laws of health. If we obviate them we cannot expect to "make old bones.' But that the spaa of existence allotted to a naturally delicate constitution, or one which has been shaken by disease may be materially lengthened, is a fact of which we have dally proof. The vivifying and re storative Influence of Hostetter's Stomach Bitters upon a falling physique affords a striking Illustra tion of the" power "of Judicious medication to strengthen the hold on life. Restored digestion, complete assimilation, renewed appetite, sound re pose, these are among the benefits conferred upon the debilitated by that supreme reuuvouu a circulation enriched, a frame Invigorated, and a nervous system tranquillzed, the Invalid, after a course of the Bitters, feels that his life-tenure Is no longer the precarious thing that It was that he may yet enjoy a "green old age." Every Moment's Wonaerrul Work. Every moment that we live the work .of destruc tion never ceases among what Is scientifically call ed "the tissues" of which our bodies are composed. Everfmornent, if we are in health, the work of re nalring this-destructive process goes on with equal uace. When the vital force Is great, more vigor Is Sven to the blood and muscular fibre than the or dinary wear and tear of existence uses up. When thevltal force falls from any cause, there ensues a wasting away, which If not arrested, ends In decay anddeatb. Physicians all declare that when these symptoms of decline set In, the only certain reme dyls Cod Liver OIL But their patlente.witti al most equal unanimity, say that Cod Liver Oil is 'so nasty" they cannot take it The only resource left Isto obtain Scott's Emulsion of the Oil with the Hypopbosphltesof Lime and Soda. This Is, alto gether free from disagreeable taste and odor, and U an unequalled tonic, forthe nerves and brain. AN EXCELLENT MEDICINE. Springfield, O., Fete 28, 1877. This Is to certifythat I have used VEGETLNE, manufactured by H. R. Stevens, Boston, Mass., for Rheumatism and General Prostration of the Ner vous Svstem, with good success. I recommend YEGETINE as an excellent medicine for such complaints. Yours very tndy VANDEGEn?T Mr. Vandegrift of the Ann of Vandegrift A Huff man, is a well-known business man lii this place, having one of the largest stores hi Springfield. O. OUR MINISTER'S WIFE. Louisville, Ky., Feb. 16, 1877. Mr. H. R. Stevens: Dear Sir Three years ago I was suffering terribly with Inflammatory Rheumatism. Our minister's wile advised me to take VEGETLNE. After tak ing one bottle, I was entirely relieved. This year, feeling a return of the disease, I again commenced taking it, and am being benefited gre;itly. It also greatly Improves my digestion. Respectfully, Mrs. A. BALLARD, 1011 West Jefferson Street 'A'BrinarkableBesult. It makes no difference how many physicians or how much medicine you have tried, It is now an es labllshed fact that German Syrup is the only reme dy which has given complete satisfaction In severe cases of Lung Diseases. It is true there are yet thousands of persons Who are predisposed to Throat and Lung .Affections, Consumption, Hem orrhages. Asthma, Severe Colds settled on the BreasL Pneumonia, Whooping Cough, c., who have no personal knowledge ofBoscbee'sGerman Syrup, i To such we would say that 50.000 dozen were sold last year without one, complaint Con sumptives try Just one bottle. 1 Regular, size 75 cents. Sold by all-drugglsts in America. A Coo4 Resolution fur New Tear. Many, on the entrance of new year, form new resolutions of good conduct to be observed during the coming year. One of the. best determinations Is to try pu fair means of securing a competency at little cost, and the easiest, best and most attractive method Is to send at once to M. A. Dauphin, P. O. Box 692, New Orleans, La., two dollars and secure a chance In the 104th grand monthly drawing of the Louisiana State Lottery, which takes place at New Orleans, La., on Tuesday, January 14th, 1879. Here all Is honestly conducted, and there is no such, thing known as the postponement of the drawing or scaling of the liberal list of prizes offered. Not Meillriae bat Food. The fall and early whiter season Is the harvest time of hacking coughs and debilitating forms of Catarrh, Just as the later spring Is the seed time of malarial fevers. To know a certain cure of the one, and a preventive of the other, Is to havejwlth lnour reach thj most Inestimable blessing of the period. We do know of them, for these really nmr velous properties are combined in Scott'f Emulsion of Pure Cod Liver Oil with the Hypophospites of Lime and Soda. . There is no form of physical waste and prostrat ed vitality , that a bountiful use of the Emulsion, will not change, to glowing health and full life and vigor, and then It Is nol a disagreeable medicine, but the most delightful kind of food. SAFE AND SURE. Mr? IL R. Stevens: In 1872 your Vegetlne was recommended to me, and yielding to the persuations of a friend, I consented to try it At the time I was suffering from general debility and nervous prostration, superinduced by overwork and Irregular habits. its wonaerrui strengtneiung anu curauve proper ties seemed to affect my debilitated system from the first dose; and under Its persistent use I rapid ly recovered, gaining more than usual health and good feeling, since men i nave not nesiuiwju to give Vegetlne my most unqualified indorsement, as being a safe, sure and powerful agent in promot ing health and restoring the wasted system to new life ana energy, vegenne is me omy meuicme i use; and as long as I live I never expect to find a better. Yours truly, W. H. CLARK, 120 Monterey Street. Alleghany. Penn. Aa Astonishing Fact. rt'A large proportion of the American people are to-day dying from the effects of Dyspepsia or dis ordered liver. The result of these diseases upon the masses of Intelligent and valuable people Is most alarming, making life actually a burden In stead of a pleasant existence of enjoyment and usefulness aslt ought to be. There is no good rea son for thls?1rou wilt only throw aside prejudice and skepticism, take the adviee of Druggists and your friends, and try one bottle bf Greeirs August Flower, your speedy relief Is certain. - Millions of bottles of this medicine have been given away to try its virtues, with satisfactory results in every case. You can buy a sample bottle for 10 cents to try. Three doses will relieve the worst case. Positively sold by all druggists on the Western Continent. VEGETLNE The following letter from Rev. G. W Mansfield, formerly Dastor of the Methodist Episcopal church. Hyde Park, and at present settled in Lowell, must convince every one who reads his letter of the won derful curative qualities of Vegetlne as a thorough cleanser and purifier or the blood. Hyde Park, Mass., Feb. 15, 1876. Mr. H. R. Stevens: Dear Sir About ten years airo my health failed through the depleting effects of dyspepsia; nearly a year later I was attacked by typhoid-fever in Its worst form. It settled in my back, and took the form of a large deep-seated abscess, which was fifteea months hi gathering. I had two surgical operatioiis by the best skill in the State, but receiv ed nq permanent cure. I suffered great pain at timet, and was constantly weakened by a protuse discharge. I also lost small pieces of bone at dif ferent times. Matters ran on thus about seven years, till May, 1874. when a friend recommended me to go to your office, and talk with youcf the virtue of Vege tlne. I did so, ad by your kindness jwissed through your manufactory, noting the ingredients. Scc, by which your remedy is produced. By what I saw and heard I gained some confi dence in Vegetine. I commenced taking it soon after, but felt worse from its effects; still 1 persevered, and soon felt It was benefitting me in other respects Yet I did not see the results I desired till I had taken It faithful ly for little more than a year, when the difficulty in the back was cured; and for nine months I have enjoyed the best of health. I have in that time gained twenty-five pounds of flesh, being heavier than ever before in my life, and 1 was never more able to perform labor than now. During the past few weeks I had a scrofulous swelling as large as my fist gather on another part of my body. I took Vegetlne faithfully, and it removed it level with the surface in a month. I think I should have been cured of my main trouble sooner if I h :d tak en larger doses, after having become accustomed to its effects. Let your patrons troubled with scrofula or kidney disease understand that it takes time to cure chronic diseases; and, if they will patiently take Vesetine, it will, in my judgement, cure them. With great obligations I am 90 Yours very truly. G. W. MANSFIELD. Pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church. H. T. BUTLER'S Stove and Hardware House for CHEAP HARDWARE OF ALL KINDS.
