This interesting phenomenon may be seen on any clear, moonless evening in March. It becomes visible about an hour after sunsei as a column of soft white light, the base of the cone resting on the part of the horizon where the sun went down, and the apex reach ing to the Pleiades. The soft glow of the mysterious light differs from every other appearance in the sky, and no words can describe the etherial delica cy, the tilmy texture, and softened bril liancy of this celestial visitor, as strangely incomprehensible as it is ex quisitely beautiful. Walker, Esq, night before last, from Raleigh, stating that he was quite ill. Yesterday, Mrs. Walker, his mother, accompanied by Mr. Junius Davis, went up to Baleigh, and in the afternoon a second telegram happily relieved the anxiety of nis fridnds.
