E2F"In Friday morning's issue we al
luded to a row which occurred the Dre-
vious morning on 8th street among
some negroes, causing a disturbance of
the residents in that neighborhood
An officer gives the information that
an arrest was made at the time of the
disturbance, and the matter is still open
for investigation.
ZW Considerable complaint has
reached this office on account of our
city subscribers not getting their pa
pers early in the morning. We try to
have The Observer delivered early
in all parts of the city, but the rainy
weather for the past month has necessi
tated the putting of the papers in the
houses instead of merely throwing
them in the yards, and this adds much
to the time required to make the
rounds.
Reported ITIivking.
A report was current in the city yes
terday that Mr. Jonathan Ray, of Provi
dence township, is missing, tnd that
his whereabouts is unknown. It is said
he was absent from home last Monday,
and that his horse, with saddle torn, re
turned home that evening riderless. It
is to be hoped that he will turn up al
right, as apart from his drinking pro
pensities he is well liked by his neigh
bors and friends.
Supervisor' Meeting1,
The road supervisors held a meeting
yesterday afternoon, but transacted no
business of public importance, except
the appointing of several overseers to
fill vacancies. The appointments
made were as follows:

Reply to Poet No.
Our entertainment must have served
Much talent to display,
Since It has been the earnest theme
Of a modem poet's lay.
Many of those who speak of it.
Praise us none the less;
And we feel that It was Indeed,
A very great success.
We are paid for all our treuble,
As all who did attend,
Have allowed their happy voices,
In loudest praise to Mend.
It pleases girls especially,
To see their names In print;
Now, remember, Mr. Poet,
This Is a timely bint.
And when by a young gentleman,
They are thus set In rhyme,
If we don't feel delighted
I'm sure I think It's time.
Accept all our best wishes,
And thanks for all you've said,
And may the light of peace and Joy
On your vhoie life be shed.
