Few people have any idea ot the enor

The fieures df .theeerrsus of lSSo are
not yet at hand, to show-ceurateiy the'

in the two great .industrial branches,
yet the previous census, that of 1810, is
sufficient for our purpose. From the
table there enumerated it appears that
Ohio s farm products were valued at
$190,256,000, while the manufactured

of agricultural products. Illinois man

but $210,800,000; Michigan's produc
tions (other than agricultural) were
$118,300,000 ; agricultural, ' $8100000 ;
Wisconsin grew $73,000,000 worth and
manufactured $77,000,000; Missouri in
1870 manufactured ; $206,000,000, just
twice the value of her agricultural pro
ducts. Iowamanufactured fi46.500.000.
and grew $114,400,000. For purposes of
comparison the States further West
