Galveston. Sept. 15. A News Mat
amoras special says there were 6 deaths
in the last 24 nours Dy yeuow lever.
This is a sadden and startling increase.
Two are soldiers and the rest are of the
poorer classes. There ieTalso a slight
increase of cases and the disease is of a
more deadly character.

nor has conveyed the information to
Dr Swearingen, who at once telegraph
ed Surgeon General Hammond as foU
lows: Yellow fever has appeared at
Regnosa, Cnmargo and Mier, Mexico,
opposite the coast of Hidalgo, and the
towns of Rio Grande City and Roma
to-day. Please establish a line of mount
ed guards connecting with the north
end of your lower cordon and extend
ing twenty miles above Roma. Roma
is In danger of high water to the inte
rior. If you cannot grant entire appli
cation give us guards to the front of
Regnosa, Carmo, Camargo and Mier.
We have no money to meet their heavy
demands and trust again to ask for aid.
