Something About a Republican Scheme for which the Government is Paying. : One of the most prominent Repub lican leaders in Philadelphia is the authority, through a most trustwor thy informant, for the statement that Pension Commissioner Dudley, who is in Ohio now, is at the head of 260 workers who are being paid $5 per day salary and $6vper day expenses at tho cost of the Government. These workers are trained ward bosses, mostly from New York, Brooklyn and Philadelphia. Half of them have been appointed special agents of the Pension Bureau, and the other half special bank examiners. They are each at work making a complete poll of the vote of Ohio, showing the Re publicans, Independents, v Democrats and Greenbackers, and marking with the price at which he can be bought the name of every voter who is out of work or for sale. As -has already beea announced, Commissioner Dudley has sent in his resignation, to take effect November 7. being three days after the election. He will then probably withdraw it. His salary goes on in the meanwhile. The name of one of the men who were asked to go from Philadelphia as special agents is as familiar as that of almost any other Republican in Philadelphia. He declined' to servo and expressed some indignation at tho proposition. Remedy for f oison Ivy. Dr. S. A. Brown, United States Navy," states in the Medical Record that he has found a specific for the troublesome eruption produced by the poison oak, or poison ivy, so com mon in our ; woods: and along old fences. This specific he finds in bro -mine, wtich he has used with unva rying success in at least forty cases. He uses the drug dissolved in olive oil, cosmoline or glycerine, in the strength of from ten to twenty drops of bromine to the ounce of oil, and rubs the mixture gently On the affect ed parts three or four times a day. The bromine is so volatile that the solution should be renewed every twenty-four hours.- The eruption never extends after the first thorough application, and it promptly disap pears in twenty-tour hours if. the application is persisted in Daughters, Wives and Mothers We emphatically guarantee Dr. Marchlsl's Cuthol loon, a Female Remedy, to cure Female Diseases, such as ovarian troubles.
