At the outbreak of hostilities in iftfti Mr. Conner volunteered and went to the front as a member of the Iredell Blues, from Stateaville. He served during the four years and was a brtvve Confederate soldier. At his funeral this afternoon his Confederate com rades were pall-bearers and the cas ket waa covered with Confederate gray, the first of the kind used here, Mr." Conner was 77 years old and had lived in Statesvllle 48 years.
