Deputy Sheriff Nolan, of Haywood county, brought to the penitentiary John Bailey, a white man who was sentenced to two years for manslagh ter, having on Christmas day killed a white man by the name of Caldwell. Governor Glenn Is in receipt of a letter requesting his good offices with the prison authorities In behalf of road Imprisonment in Duplin county. This movement la starting all over the eastern part of the State, aa the peo ple are awakened to the fact that good roads are one of the chief essentials of a section's growth and progress. Governor Glenn left this morning for Newbern, where he will to-morrow be the guest of the Methodists of that city, and deliver one of his characteris tic addresses. Governor Glenn will go ' from Newbern to Wilmington Monday, where he will deliver an address be fore the W. C. T. U. of that city at a special anniversary meeting of that bod v. Postmaster Bailey announces four rural free delivery carriers for the State at Fayettevllle, Mocksville and Statesvllle, effective April 2nd, and at Polkton, effective March 15th. President C. C.
