The recently ap pointed directors of the North Caro lina Farmers' Protective Association wet In the Hotel Carolina to-night for the purpose of perfecting plans and carrying out ihe Ideas recently ex pressed at the Slate convention of this organization regarding the solicitation of slock and building nf storage houses and tobacco factories. All of the di rectors, J. A. bong, Roxbnro; D. I.. Al len. Granville, P. H. Xeal, Hocking tiam; 0. Moore, Person, and John j. Bailey, Elm City, were present. In ad dition to these there wen present at the meeting (Nil. J. H. Cunningham, president of th association; J. o. W. Gravely. Kocky Mount, and J. M. fiharp, Rockingham. One matter discussed was the fixing of salaries of officers and the idea aeems to be that the salaries nhall be fixed according to the membership of the association. Organizers will be eent Into all of the tobacco growing counties of the State, the Intention of the directors being to have an organ Ire r for each tobacco county. These organisers will all be under the direc tion of the grand lecturer. Meetings for the purpose of arousing enthusi asm and Interest will be held at many S laces In the west. Mr. John Mcflhee, whose store at Chad wick was entered and the safe blown open a few nights ago, has re covered a number of insurance poli cies, land deeds and other valuable piilers which had been taken from the safe. The burglars had carried the pa pers off, but when they had looked them over and saw that they were useless t them they very considerate ly returned the documents, placing them In, an out-house near the store where they would aurely bo found. Franklin, president of the North Carolina Sunday School Con vention, which convenes In Charlotte next week, has offered a pair of hand some flags, the national and the con quest emblems, to that school In Meck lenburg county, outside of Charlotte, which has the largest delegation In proportion to the enrollment present at the meeting. Joe Lee anil Fhiirerut McClaln. two colored em ployes, chose to settle some personal differences while on duty. Eugene got the worst end of the ibargaln. After the men had pasaed a few Ilea, etc., Joe seized a heavy glass and threw It at Eugene, striking him on the head and cutting an ugly gash. Police Ser gent Farrlngton and Patrolman Ir vine appeared on the scene at this opiiortune time and arrested the men, who will receive a hearing before the recorder this morning.
