The style of the new firm, which will be one of the largest Jurk-handllng con cerns in the State, will probably be Leon & Sternheimer. - MaJ. Leon has (been identified with the business interest of Charlotte for more than a quarter of a century. He Is a native of Germany and came to Charlotte in 1868'. More recently he was connected' with W. Kaufmann and the Carolina Clothing Company. He has many friend who will regret to see htm leave the cRy MaJ. Leon's .family will remain In the city until fall. Arrested for Embezzlement. F. E. Farrell, an experienced cot ton mill operative, Is occupying a cell at the city police station, awaiting the arrival or a Dtlllon, S3. C. officer, who will take him to that town to an swer to the charge of embesslement Farrell wae given about $100 some time ago with which to move his fam ily to Dillon, where he was 'to work at the Maple Mills, the management of which advanced the money. Farrell told an Observer reporter yesterday afternoon that he hd been robbed of the money, but Intended to pay it 'back. Patrolmen Chrlwtenbury and Earnhardt made the arrest. Tho Law Can't Reach Him. Jim Belk, the negro hack driver at whose home two white women were found a few dy ago, was arraigned in the -city police -ourt yesterday morning on the charge of keeping a disorderly house. There was no doubt from the evidence that Belk had been running such a house, but there was no evidence of disorder and there Is no law by which the defend ant could be punished. The two women found at Belk's house were Bertha Gray and Stella Walker, two travel ing demimondes.
