She had not been real well for .. week but had recuperated her strength until she looked about as usual. ..Friday morning she wltneas ed the parade and. was delighted, es netialiv with the .' monkeys. - After dinner her mother dressed her In her very prettiest . clftthes and took, her to the show. The crowd, especially the other babies, the dogs, the pontes and the monkeys bewildered her; she had . never . seen such, a lively, scene. The monkey horse doctor seemed to impress her more than any other fea ture of the programme but no one could tell whether she was pleased or displeased with that , great man-like beast, t .'.A ' Those who went to watoh the little lady and' see that she was amused did not know' what te think of the show as It affected their - charge. They were In doubt, as the little one could not tell them what she thought But. alas, there came a time when they did-realise what sort of an im pression had been made on -her ten der -mind At 1:10; Baby went to sleep aad a halt hour later aha Jump ed p In bed aad cried "Monk, monk, monk!" From- her .behavior H was evident that she called : hot to aee another .."monk" ; but to get' away from tba , one aha had already seen. '" Sleep came onoe mora to sooth and quiet her nerves, ,but aa the clock struck five the monkey came, again and the child waa so soared that she scream ed and tried to hide. : The mother ailed the father, wtio slept acroea the ball and the two together suc ceeded In calming the little airl. "I wonder how many children still sea that horrid old monkey" said the mother as she rolled the sleeping baby from her arm. f COi :::c:r.:r:.'T ' riioc;::A?.r.srs.
