Walker, of the same place, who had given each other the lie aa to whether Major John Black, of the 8tate dispensary directorate, ( " hud brlbrd Walker with a 140 suit i 0f clothea. Chairman Hay further : stilled the warring spirits In the two S men by telling them that. If they ' . did -nut l-Ht.-t. the committee would aend them to lall for contempt r ; Mr. Stnoak ttlfld that Mr. Walk er, who voted for Mr. Kvana, came nlo his bank at Walterboro and i : drew on Mr. Kv-ens for I7S. Mr. r Kalker testified that he never got the ' $76. Mr. Hmonk also testified aa to ' the niack mntter of a 140 null to : Walker. Here It was Walker inlerruptod and culled Hmuik a liar and ruahed ? for him. Mmoak also Rave Walker the lie. 'Walker lenln that he said anything about Black paying for this Suit and denies that lllark did pay for It. As to the so-called private conversation Walker had over the long distance telephone from Colum , bla to Walterboro during the session of the Legislature Just after the e.c " tlon. Mr. Walker said he was talking to his wife anil told her of liluck's - election and that he was glad to see Black come in. The dispensary' Investigating com mittee was In session only a few , minutes this morning. m--tlng to ad journ again until 4 p. in. In order to allow Kepresentatlve I. yon to get In from Abbeville. Two Important reso lutions were Introduced by Senator Blease, but neither was acted upon or discussed. They went over till the afietnoon at th suggestion of Mr Fraser, who thought they should be considered by the full committee. Tho resolutions follow: "Whereas, It has been reported that this committee unanimously Intended by Its resolution referring the Black I.yon affair to his excellency, Gover nor Heyward, to request that MaJ. Hlack he removed from the board of directors. He It "Resolved. That the committee, by uch action, did not Intend to, nor did It express Itself upon the n,ucstlon as to whether MaJ. Hlack should or should not he removed, or If Gover nor Heyward had the power to re move a member of the board for the cause set out In said resolution, this being left entirely to Governor Hey ward In the ex-rclae of his discretion. "Resolved. That tho State Cum mlasloner, Hon. W. . Tatum, be re. quested to forthwith furnish this committee with the names of each of the persons to whom the Hlate la Indebted for whiskey, wine or bcr. and to make a separate list of the Dames of those whose whiskey has been bought ami so, and If th- State has made It profits therefrom us re quired by law "Resolved, That the claims of all parties whose llijuor has been bought and sold and the Htate has realized Its profits therefrom be paid by snld commissioner us soon as practicable." Kenator Blease said that the first resolution should pass In Justice to MaJ. Black as the report whlc h had gone out In some of the newspapers had created an erroneous Impression. There were some things which trans pired in executive session which h vould not mention, but he could go as far as to say thut the committee Intended no su h thing us hud been printed. As to Ihe sound resolution, he thought it iinJuNt to the liquor houw . whose ll'iuor has been sold by th folate, to kee thesn pciio out of their money any longer. There up some IHOO.O'IO worth of these cIhIiiih being held up by the committee. The committee considered the res elutlons of llleiisn lot rodtii ed this morning In ex- uim session this afternoon, uftcr whhh It was hii- nounced that th" renuton referring to what Hie romnillteit Intended to Indicate, to the ;,,vnnor about his sc- Ion In the Hl.i, k-l.yon mutter, had been tabled be. aus.. the . ommlttce s letters to the Covernor si.oke for It self The other resolution was hIso tabled so fur as It .ailed upon the commissioner to pay (he claims now being held but as , I us to requesting the commissioner to sub mit the list of lalmx Heniitor i'oe i,.
