Much Interest Being Taken in the Trip to the Coast Wednesday, June 27th. Increasing Interest Is being mani fested In the Prltchard Memorial Baptist Suncjay school excursion which Is to be run to Wilmington. Wednesday, June 27th. The train of 12 coaches will pull out from tho local Seaboard Air Line station at 7:30'o'clock Wednesday morning, ar riving at Wilmington at 2 o'clock', that afternoon. Returning, the train will leave Wilmington at 7 o'clock Thursday afternoon, arriving In Char lotto at 1 o'clock the next morning. The round trip fare will be $3. Half tickets will be aold to children under 12 years of age for $1.75. A number of special aide trips have been arranged for the benefit of those who desire to visit Carolina Beach, Fort Anderson, the Atlantic fishery, Fort Fisher, the Bocks, Houthport, Fort Johnson, and Fort Caswell and make a trip out' Into the ocean. The closing exercises of the Nor mal and Preparatory School, of Bld- dle, were conducted In the University chapel last night In the presence of a larga number of friends from the city and other vlsltora Dr. P. G. Drayton, principal, presided. Thirty students were awarded cer tificates. 'The graduates of thla de partment are qualified to teach In the public schools, being grounded In the English branchea, Including the science of teaching, and are alao pro vided with college entrance require ments, Seven of the graduate participated In the declamation contest and four In the debate. Rev. W. P. Donnell, the speaker who addressed the students, chose as his, subject: "Work a Divine Ordi nance," and treated It under the fol lowing heads: "Proofs Shown ' In Ood's Word and In Nature," "our Du ty In Respect to This Ordinance," "The Reward for Him Who Prepares." Holly, a cousin of the bride, waa maid of honor and Mr, Charles Schley, of Savannah, Ga., best man. Little Miss Hattle Dudley was the flower girl. The bride wore a stylish traveling suit of brown, with hat, gloves and shoes to match and carried brides roses. The maid of honor wore White silk and carried a bouquet of white and red sweet peas. Only a few of the mora intimate friends of the contracting parties were present. Immediately after the ceremony, Mr, and Mrs. Wayne ' left over tho Southern for Atlanta, Ga., where they will visit Mr. Wayne s parents. They will then go to Gainesville, Texas, where they will reside In the future. Miss Rutledge Is known to many In Charlotte as a young lady of beauty and charm. She haa many friends in the city. Mr. Wayne Is a promising young civil engineer wha has hereto fore lived In Savannah, Ga. He has recently accepted a lucrative position In Texas, w here he and his bride will make their future home.
