This rumor is ehuck full of dynamite;" It casta a taint on th nomination of Godwin: It la an Insult to the integrity of the Democrat! of th sixth district and la a very onen slve Insinuation against a great rail road corporation. What method did this plutocracy adopt to defeat Pat terson, and nominate Godwin? The political situation In Itobesnn county Is not Iik king tn Interest nnd every new de velopment adds Interest to the situa tion. F.rhoe of the congressional convention at Fnyettevllle had not died down lefore something else of Interest wss taken up. The latest move Is one looking toward the nomination of county offtcera by pri mary Instead of by convention. Peti tion have been circulated and will be presented to the county executive committee, which meets here Mon day, asking for the primary plan. There are many candidates for ths county oltlres and the primary plnn wn sprung so suddenly that they hardly know whether they want it or not. Anyhow, we understand that enough signers to the petition for the primary have been secured to bring the matter before the Demo cratic executive committee Monday for action. Mr. Stephen Mclntyre has a signed communication In to-dsy's Issue of Tin. Kobesonlan In regard to the re cent congressional convention that will be read with Interest In the dis trict. One day It was stopped up and Mr. Oscar Tur blvllle, who - waa discommoded by the closing of the road, had Mr. Fltecher Indicted. Mr. Fletcher denied closing the road himself, but the State alleged that he procured the closing of It. Mt. Portland, Me., Special, Sd, to New York Herald. Lord Sholto Douglas,' who passed Tuesday night on a rough bed In the detention room at the police station. and last night slept, manacled, in a room at the Falmouth Hotel, with a policeman a hi roommate, wa re leased to-day, and this afternoon he returned with Lady Douglas to th restful quiet of their little summer home, In Standlsh, near Sebago Lake. He was mistaken for "Lord Douglas," an American bigamist. The facilities at police headquarter for entertslnlng nobility are not what hey should be. - The beds are un- omfortable, the lodging room poorly ventilated, the sanitary arrangements bad and the cutslit deplorable. But Lord Douglas didn't complain overmuch. H recognised the fact hat he wss a victim of circumstances. Last night he was asked If he want ed to go to a hotel. He replied that he certainly would appreciate the change. The arrangement at the Falmouth Hotel, where a spacious room waa as Igned them, were satisfactory to Lord Douglas, but h did feel a trifle of fended at having hi wrist Ironed af ter he had climbed Into bed. Lord Douglae aald he knew nothing of a swindler using hi nam until a month ago, when a letter waa re ceived by Lady Douglas enclosing a newspaper clipping relating his acta "I car ' very .little about It." said Lord Douglas, "I didn't even read the clipping to the end, but tor It up and threw It away. When the officer cam to th cottage to Inquire who I wa Lady Douglas said: 'It I not my husband you want; you are look Ing for a man who ha been mas querading a a lord.' That Increased the officer' suspicion, I suppose." Before his release from th police station Lord Douglas wss asked to sign -a waiver to protect th officer from any civil action In consequence of hi detention. , . .. IN SELF DEFENSE.
