At the o'clock service Allen Jay preached to a packed au dience la the auditorium. Dr Barton . occupied the same hour In the col lege chapel in King Hall, and Ar thur Chllson and wife conducted the meeting In the church. In the after noon Dr. Barton preached In the au ditorium and Rev. J.: Edgar Williams oocapted the pulpit In the church. , Again at. the evening service Allen Jay preached In the auditorium; All the services were chsracterised by excellent sermons and thoughtful at ' tention. Dr. Barton Is among the foremost preachers and Biblical scholars In Amerfca. Having been a recorded 'minister for nearly SO years, and dur ing that time being actively engaged In Biblical research. The at tention of a large crowd at the depot was suddenly attracted by the pierc ing scream of a woman and the sud den stop of the train. The woman was completely unnerved with excitement and frightened and could only cry out "yes, yes. but I have lost him." Him seemed to apply to her husband, who, inquiry otscioseo. was a Mr. Klppy. - . . . A police officer Informed the. reportef that the man was - Ing the woman, and that he had made previous attempts, with the end In view. They are thought to have come to this city from Shelby, N. Torn and bruised by briars and dogs and bearlnr many evidences of brutal neglect, the tiny body of a negro In fant was found In a eotton field to day, the mother. Delia Kiigore, ,ny her own confession naving mrown the infant Into the hushes after It had died from exposure. In her tes timony before the coroner's Jury, Delia testified that the child , was born last Thursdsy evening In a cot ton patch. She left It In the field and came on home. That night she went back to see It and again left it The next morning when she returned the the child was dead the feeble spsrk having been unable to withstand the nia-ht air and dsw. Then tha 11-year old mother threw the child Into some bushes. It was found early thin morn ing In a cotton, field, where it has been dragged by dogs. The child weighed about I pounds when born. She aald she concealed the birth of the child and her condition from her parents because her fatner naa threatened . to sena nea - on me roade." . .
