Liverpool wa slightly better than due at the hour of the local opening and closed at a net advance cf 3 to 6 points, although the lungiun spot maricet was 1 point lower of aales 7.000. - Our . market opened ateady at an - ad vance of 1 to 3 point. The national glnners' asso ciation estimated the amount of cotton ginned to January 13th at 12.046.000 bolea and a local concern places It at 12.151.0OO bales, xne government a ngures are due to-morrow -afternoon and are expected to how about 12,100,000 bales, against 9.9S9, 000 last year and 13,767.600 two years ago, and 9.495,482 tn the Sully year. It would appear that a government figure around 12.100,000 bales had been discounted so far as figures are concerned. Mr. Elll snn 1 said to have raised his estimate of the season's consumption to 12,350.000 bales. At the .presemt rate of takings even thla figure looks too low.
